TAKE ACTION

Help #stopeacop

Building the world’s longest heated crude oil pipeline in the midst of a climate emergency would be grossly irresponsible, yet that’s exactly what French oil company Total and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation are planning to do.

Over 260 organizations are urgently trying to convince banks around the world to rule out supporting this disastrous project.

They need your help.

This massive pipeline would rip through the heart of Africa – displacing communities, endangering wildlife and fueling climate change.

We need the banks to know that thousands of people around the world agree with the open letter endorsed by over 260 regional and international organizations pleading with banks not to join the $2.5 billion loan to construct the pipeline.

Send your own message now to the 5 banks we think are most likely to consider financing the pipeline. Together we can #StopEACOP and create a just and sustainable economic future.

Thanks for speaking up

Your message will be emailed to senior contacts at the following banks:

Standard Bank (South Africa) and ICBC (China)

Note: Credit Agricole & Société Général were originally included in this email recipient list but were removed on April 27, 2021, after it was reported that they would not be providing finance to EACOP. At this time, Citi and Deutsche Bank were added to the list. HSBC and Mizuho were removed on September 13 after confirming they were not providing finance to EACOP. Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan, and Citi were removed from the list on May 19th after media reports indicated they would not join the EACOP project loan.
