Stop the flow of corporate money

If completed, the East African Crude Oil Pipeline will displace communities, endanger wildlife and tip the world closer to full-blown climate catastrophe. We need to #StopEACOP.

Building the biggest heated oil pipeline in the world is expensive work and Total and China National Offshore Oil Corporation can’t go it alone – they need support from investors, banks, insurers, technical advisors and construction contractors from around the world.

That’s where you come in!

We know from experience that companies take notice when enough people speak up about their decisions and actions. For example, following our advocacy, the African Development Bank has declared it is not financing the pipeline. So who’s next?

If we can stop the money pipeline to EACOP, then we can stop the actual pipeline.

Here are some actions you can take to help #StopEACOP

Demand #Marshdropeacop

US company Marsh has been hired as insurance broker for EACOP, meaning they’re in charge of convincing insurers to underwrite EACOP. Marsh has dropped other deadly projects because of public pressure before. Together we can make them drop EACOP too. Send a message to the leadership of Marsh now - drop EACOP!

Tell the Banks to back off

The EACOP still needs a multi-billion dollar project loan from banks to proceed. We must convince the potential financiers to do the right thing and back away from this climate-destroying monstrosity. Add your voice to tell the banks to back off.

Insure our future, Not OIL

A project of this scale is incredibly risky – especially when it runs through an active seismic area. EACOP needs to secure numerous insurance policies covering every component of the project. Shockingly, these insurance firms are still considering it.

Support legal action against Total

Total plans to drill more than 400 oil wells in Uganda’s Murchison Falls national park. Survie and Friends of the Earth France are using the French corporate duty of vigilance law in an attempt to prevent Total from putting at considerable risk or causing irreversible damage to local communities, biodiversity, environment and climate.

Uganda: keep the oil in the ground – save Murchison Falls!

Murchison Falls National Park is one of Africa’s jewels – every year, thousands of people come from all over the world to enjoy the spectacle of the Victoria Nile thundering down the cliffs of a narrow gorge. But this could soon be history if France's Total and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation get their way. Sign the Rainforest Rescue petition to tell the President of Uganda, and management of Total and CNOOC to keep the oil in the ground.
